Shropshire girl raises money for RSH's neonatal unit
A 10-year-old Shropshire girl has generously raised £150 for the neonatal unit at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by asking for donations instead of birthday presents.

Mary Aspinall, from Llanyblodwel, asked her friends to make small donations when they were invited to a party to celebrate her 10th birthday in February. She chose to donate the funds to the unit where she received care for a few days shortly after being born.
Mary said: “I had a huge party for my birthday and invited all my friends from school. About 50 people were invited and I am very grateful to everyone who made a donation.
“I was hoping to raise about £100 so am very please with how much we got.”
Mary and her mum Kate Aspinall visited the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on Tuesday to meet with staff from the Maternity Department and presented the cheque before going on a tour of the neonatal and special care units.
Dr Sanjeev Deshpande, consultant neonatologist at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, said: “We are very grateful for this generous donation, and always welcome the support of fundraising groups and individuals.
“I am delighted to that see someone so young has chosen to raise funds for the neonatal unit.”
