Police are appealing for information after thieves broke into a Telford cricket club and stole an amount of cash.

Thieves steal cash from Lilleshall Cricket Club

The break-in happened at Lilleshall Cricket Club in Church Road some time between 9pm yesterday and 7am today.

Intruders forced their way into the building before carrying out a search of the premises. Around £400 and possibly some alcohol were stolen.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for information. Scenes of crime officers have spent the morning at the club.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “An event had been held at the cricket club until about 9pm last night and the building was left safe and secure. But when the people who run the before school club got there this morning they discovered the break-in.

“A lot of damage has been caused, as well as cash and other items being stolen.

“If you heard or saw anything suspicious, or have any information that could help us with our enquiries, please come forward.”

Telford Police can be contacted on 0300 333 3000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
