Shrewsbury homes struck by lightning
Two semi-detached homes were struck by lightning in Shrewsbury last night.
The homes in Mayfield Grove, Bayston Hill were struck by lightning during a storm around 11.30pm.
Firefighters were called to tackle a roof fire which broke out following the lightning strike.
Speaking on BBC Radio Shropshire a couple in one of the homes said they heard a large crash and could then smell burning.
Neighbours alerted them to the fire which had broken out in their roof space. The couple left the property with their children whilst waiting for the fire service to arrive.
An aerial ladder platform was used by firefighters to remove roof tiles and tackle the fire.
