Police in Bridgnorth are appealing for information following a robbery in which a young woman and her baby were accosted while walking home shortly before 9.30pm last night in Racecourse Drive.

Mother robbed whilst walking with her baby in Bridgnorth

The 21-year-old woman was pushing her baby in a pushchair near the garages between Racecourse Drive and Tasley Close when two men approached her from behind and an object was pressed into her back. She was threatened and ordered to handover her wallet and any other valuables.

The men ran off with more than £300 and various bank cards.

Detective Constable Lee Holehouse, the investigating officer, said today: “Fortunately, the mother and her child were uninjured although she was badly shaken.

“It was a frightening experience and we are anxious to trace the offenders. I am appealing for any information which might assist our investigation.

“In particular, please contact Bridgnorth CID if you spotted two men acting suspiciously in the Racecourse Drive area between 9pm and 10pm last night or if you know anything about the incident.”

One of the assailants was described as about 5ft 9ins tall, of slim to medium build, with short, shaved brown or blond hair. He was wearing what appeared to be grey jogging bottoms and a dark hooded top. His accomplice was wearing a light coloured fleece top.

The number to call at Bridgnorth police station is 0300-333-3000, or the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800-555-111.
