Man arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation in Lawley
A Telford man has received a caution after the Central Telford Local Policing Team executed a drugs warrant yesterday morning.
Fifteen cannabis plants were found in the loft space at the address when police entered the property at just after 7.30am on Thursday 20th May and the 38-year-old man was immediately arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.
Later in the day the man was released from police custody having been given a caution.
Community Support Officer Tom Jones, from the Lawley and Overdale LPT, said:
“We will not tolerate the use of illegal drugs in Telford. Drugs are at the centre of most criminal activity and if we receive information that drugs are being used, we will seize the substances and prosecute.
“This is the latest in a series of warrants issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act across the Borough and police will continue to tackle those suspected of supplying and using drugs. We take drug crime very seriously and act on any information received from members of the public.
“Anyone who has any concerns regarding drug crimes should call us immediately. However, we acknowledge that some people do not want to get involved or give their name, so Crimestoppers provides the means for anyone to pass information about suspicious activity or crime with a guarantee of anonymity.
“It is important that people call us with information, because it is ultimately their help that enables us to carry out operations and make arrests - therefore helping us to disrupt, prevent and detect crime.
“Information can be passed to Police directly by calling 0300 333 3000, or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
