The Wrekin Housing Trust is providing another phase of housing at the Monarch Fields site in Donnington. Five more homes were let to new tenants on the development on Friday, which has already provided 36 affordable houses and apartments over the past three years.

Local housing trust provides more top quality homes

Three of the new homes will be let through the Trust’s InReach scheme, which allows customers to rent a home with the option to buy a share at a later date. The remaining two homes have been made available through Choose Your Home, the Trust’s rental system which allows registered customers to choose homes they would like to be considered for. All of the houses have three bedrooms, and some have an additional study. They all have garages or parking spaces.

One of the happy new customers who will be renting one of the Choose Your Home properties is Lydia Perkins, who will be moving with her three children. Lydia said: “I’m very grateful to be able to able to move into a new-build property with my family. After a difficult year I feel that The Wrekin Housing Trust has given us the opportunity for a fresh start for which we are very grateful. I feel that it is a positive step for the Trust to be purchasing these lovely new properties and we are looking forward to moving in and starting our new lives.”

Another new tenant at Monarch Fields is Charlene Scott, who is moving to one of the homes with her two young sons. She said of the move: “Moving to this house is a fresh start for me and my boys. It’s a beautiful house in a nice area and I’m sure we’ll be really happy there.”

Lisa Evans, Property Executive for the Trust, said that the demand for the homes at Monarch Fields has been extremely high. She said: “It’s been really rewarding to accompany the prospective tenants to see their brand new homes and to see how happy they are.”

The Trust will make available a further 20 homes over the next two years, a mixture of two and three bedroom houses and apartments. Andrea Martin, Asset Renewal Manager at The Wrekin Housing Trust said of the development: “This is a great site that provides sought after, affordable homes for Telford. We have lots of happy tenants at Monarch Fields and we’re pleased to be able to provide yet more quality, modern homes for local people.”

In total, the Trust will have 32 houses and 27 apartments on the Monarch Fields site in Donnington, as well as two bungalows, which will let in phases through 2012 and 2013.
