Police in Telford have arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of attempted arson following an alleged incident at an address in Hadley.

Teenager arrested on suspicion of attempted arson in Telford

Police received a call to a home in Crescent Road to the report that a lit object was put through a letterbox some time between 2.30pm and 5pm on Saturday.

Fortunately the bristles surrounding the letterbox caused the fire to extinguish. Consequently no damage was caused.

Police carried out a number of enquiries and arrested a male youth on suspicion of attempted arson.

He was taken to Malinsgate Police Station and was questioned by police. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating the matter and would like to hear from anyone who saw anything that could help us with our enquiries in relation to the alleged attempted arson.

“We would also like to hear from anybody in the area who has any information on any incidents of anti-social behaviour within the Crescent Road area of Hadley.”

Anyone with information should contact Telford Police on 0300 333 3000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
