Police investigating a robbery in Bridgnorth in which a young woman was targeted as she walked home with her baby today renewed an appeal for witnesses.

Police renew appeal to Bridgnorth robbery

Detectives are particularly keen to speak to someone who phoned Crimestoppers over the last couple of weeks with information that could help their investigation.

The victim was pushing her child’s pushchair along Racecourse Drive when she was approached from behind at about 9.30pm on Wednesday 12th May.

An object was pressed into her back and she was threatened and ordered to hand over her wallet and any other valuables.

The men ran off with her bank cards and more than £300 in cash. The attack happened near the garages between Racecourse Drive and Tasley Close.

Detective Sergeant Dave Meyer, of Bridgnorth CID, said as a result of appeals made in the media, a number of calls with information had been received from the public.

“One call was made anonymously to Crimestoppers and we are keen to speak to this person as they may have information that could help our investigation,” he said.

“I ask them to either contact Crimestoppers a second time with any more information they might have or to contact police on 0300 333 3000, which they can still do anonymously if they are concerned about being identified.

“Fortunately, the victim was not injured but was very shaken and upset by what was understandably a very frightening experience.”

One of the offenders is described as white, about 5ft 9in in height, of slim to medium build and with short, shaved brown or blonde hair. He was wearing what appeared to be grey jogging bottoms and a dark hooded top. The second offender was wearing a light-coloured fleece top.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111.
