CCTV released following theft from Leegomery store
Police in Telford are appealing for assistance as they investigate a theft at the Spar shop on Pool Farm Avenue in Leegomery.
The theft took place sometime between 8.30pm and 9pm on Monday 21 March when a man entered the shop and approached the till. The man requested a bottle of Southern Comfort from behind the counter. The male member of staff placed the bottle on the counter and the man then asked him for a packet of cigarettes.
When the staff member turned around to get the cigarettes the man grabbed the bottle of Southern Comfort off the counter and made off with it – sprinting out of the shop and fleeing the scene.
A police spokesman said:
“We are today releasing a photo of a man we wish to speak to in relation to this theft in the hope that a member of the public may recognise him. If anyone does recognise him we would ask those people to call us soon as they can.
“The man is described as being white, aged in his early 30s and as having an average build. He is also described as wearing a black ‘beanie’ style hat, a grey cardigan with a white t-shirt underneath and dark coloured jeans.
“Although the value of the stolen property was relatively low - around £20 – it is important we trace this man so that we can speak to him about this incident. We take every offence that’s reported to us very seriously and will try to do all we can to catch the individual or individuals responsible.
“Anyone who believes they may know the identity of the man in the CCTV image we have released today is asked to call police on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
