Shropshire customers are being reminded its not too late to nominate a Sainsbury’s Shrewsbury colleague that has really gone the extra mile to deliver great customer service.

In the ‘Customer’s Colleague of the Year’ award, customers can nominate a colleague who has gone above and beyond their store role to deliver exceptional service.

All the nominees are in with a chance of being recognised at the retailer’s annual awards in September. It’s all part of the Sainsbury’s Star awards, which launched in 2007.

Voting has been running since 22nd March. Customers can nominate a colleague three ways: either by picking up a form at the store’s Customer Service desk, situated at the front of the store, or by emailing yourstar@sainsburys.co.uk or they can nominate online at www.sainsburys.co.uk. Voting closes on 17th June.

The Sainsbury’s Star awards recognise colleagues who make an outstanding contribution to the business. There are 13 categories this year.

Last year, over 9,000 votes were received nationwide, 5,000 votes more then the previous year. Nominations are coming in across the country with over 2,000 nominations having already been received.

The final takes place at Birmingham NEC on Wednesday 14th September and will be watched by 4,500 Sainsbury’s colleagues from across the UK.

Store manager Mr Peter Briggs said: “The Sainsbury’s Star ‘Colleague Of The Year’ award gives (Shropshire customers the opportunity to tell us if a colleague has gone above and beyond their job role to help give them a memorable shopping experience. There’s still plenty of time to nominate, and the form only takes a couple of minutes to fill out. We hope voting proves popular with our customers in these last few weeks”.
