Residents of Hinstock, near Market Drayton are being advised to make sure their doors are locked and ground-floor windows shut at night.

Hinstock residents warned to keep doors and windows closed at night

Police have issued the advice following several reports of a night-time prowler attempting to break into homes.

In one incident a man was actually disturbed in the upstairs of a house in Manor Farm Drive at around 3am on Sunday. He ran off empty-handed.

At around the same time, another resident in nearby Sandbrook Close was disturbed by someone in her garden. Last Thursday, dogs were disturbed and security lighting tripped at a home in Bearcroft Grange, an adjoining street, although no-one was seen.

Police Constable Clare Stretton said: “Householders need to make sure their doors are locked and ground floor windows secured at night to be on the safe side. Anyone with information concerning these incidents should contact Market Drayton police station on 0300-333-3000. Also call the police if you see anyone acting suspiciously.”
