Police have issued an urgent appeal for sightings of a 52-year-old missing woman thought to be in the Haughmond Hill area of Shrewsbury.

Search continues for missing Shrewsbury woman

Officers mounted an immediate search for Mrs Sarah Helen Dunk after she was reported missing from home shortly after 9.30pm last night.

Mrs Dunk is considered to be vulnerable and at high risk. The police search of the rural area around Haughmond Hill resumed at first light this morning.

Her family is anxious for news and have appealed for her to get in touch. Police have issued a public appeal urging people visiting the Haughmond Hill area to keep a lookout for Mrs Dunk.

She is described as white, about 5ft 6ins tall, of large build with shoulder-length dark brown hair which may be spiky. She is thought to be wearing trousers - either jeans or cords - and a green t-shirt and may be carrying a Hessian bag.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “There is growing concern for Mrs Dunk’s safety and we appeal to anyone who might have seen her to get in touch as a matter of urgency by calling Shrewsbury police station on 0300-333-3000.

“It is completely out of character for her to go missing like this and we are anxious to establish she is safe.”

Mrs Dunk lives with her husband in a caravan at Haughmond Farm, Haughmond Hill.

Police believe she is likely to be in the Haughmond Hill area, a local beauty spot. She was last seen at around 4.30pm yesterday.

Officers, who last night brought in the police helicopter to assist the search, are searching the woodland near Haughmond Abbey and the surrounds of the nearby quarry.
