Police are appealing for information following an incident in which a 19-year-old man suffered a broken leg, a cracked facial bone and bruising and swelling to his face and body as a result of the early morning attack in Wellington.

Man suffers injuries following incident in Wellington

The victim and some friends had been walking through Wellington town centre towards the job centre in New Street when they were approached by another group of up to nine men at around 12.45am on Saturday.

A verbal altercation took place between members of both groups. One of the men punched the victim to his face. Two other members of the group then kicked and stamped on the victim’s leg.

Police and paramedics were called and attended the scene. The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Police are investigating the incident and want to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “The victim remembers being punched and kicked but then the next thing he remembers is waking up with police and ambulance attending to him.

“He was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford where he was treated for his injuries.

“At the time of the incident there were a number of people within the vicinity. We are eager to speak to these people and would urge them to come forward and contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact Telford Police on 0300 333 3000 or information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
