Telford can throw man fined by court
A Telford man who threw a can out of the window of a car has been ordered to pay a total of £715 by a court after he failed to respond to reminders to pay a £75 fixed penalty.
Michael Smith, 19, of Old Vicarage Road, Little Dawley, was fined £400, ordered to pay costs of £300 as well as £15 victim surcharge when the case was heard in his absence by Telford Magistrates.
The court heard that a Community Support Officer was on patrol in the Madeley area of Telford in an unmarked vehicle on February 24.
He saw the front passenger of a silver Citroen Saxo throw a blue and white can from the window on to the grass verge along the side of Kemberton Road.
He followed the vehicle until it came to a stop in the car park of the Stirchley Medical Centre and a fixed penalty notice was issued to the front seat passenger.
Mr Smith failed to respond to the fixed penalty and subsequent reminders and the case was brought before Telford Magistrates.
