Two charged with theft of elderly woman’s purse in Market Drayton
A man and male youth have both been charged with theft following an incident in Market Drayton in which an elderly lady’s purse was stolen.
The 20-year-old and 17-year-old were arrested in the town centre yesterday, after the victim called police to say two men had ‘bumped into her’ and stolen her purse, before withdrawing money from her bank account.
They were interviewed at Shrewsbury Police Station and subsequently charged with theft.
Both are due to appear before Shrewsbury Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Police are still keen to hear from any witnesses to the incident, which happened in High Street at about 10.10am yesterday, on 0300 333 3000.
