Pick-up truck found from Loppington robbery

Two men and a male youth have been charged with robbery following the incident, which happened between about 11pm and 11.45pm on Tuesday 21 June 2011, they were due to appear before Shrewsbury Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The 76-year-old victim remains in a stable condition in hospital this morning, after suffering a head injury and fractured eye socket.

A white Ford Ranger pick-up was reported stolen from the address during the incident and was traced late at night on Friday 24 June 2011 to a property in a village near Whitchurch, just across the border into North Wales.

Detective Inspector Mick Homden, who is leading the investigation, said: “We had been searching for a pick-up truck reported stolen from the address in Loppington since the night of the incident.

“Officers traced this vehicle late on Friday night. We have recovered the vehicle, which will now be subject to a detailed forensic examination."

The police investigation into the incident continues and any potential witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers are also urged to get in touch.

"I thank all of those people who have already contacted police as a result of our appeals and would urge anyone else who might know something that may help our investigation to please get in touch on 0300 333 3000," added DI Homden.
