Salop Leisure to sell new book about the Lion Hotel
A new book charting the history of Shrewsbury’s famous Lion Hotel is being sold at leading caravan dealership Salop Leisure in the town.

Salop Leisure’s chairman Tony Bywater has agreed to stock the book, Four Centuries at the Lion Hotel, Shrewsbury, to promote local tourism and support the author and hotel.
Set for a Friday morning launch at the Lion Hotel, the book costs £6.99 and has been written by John Butterworth, former award-winning editor of Shrewsbury Chronicle. The foreword is by Gerald Dickens, great, great grandson of Charles Dickens, who was a regular guest at the hotel situated in the Wyle Cop.
The book will also be available at local bookshops, tourist information centres, through the Lion Hotel and through John Butterworth phone 01785 817465 or mobile 07955 262633.
“We are delighted to be stocking this book, which is an excellent read and is certain to attract tourists to Shrewsbury,” said Mr Bywater. “I also think it’s important that we show our support for hotel owner Howard Astbury and the author John Butterworth, who is a personal friend of mine.”
