Shrewsbury householder punched by Burglar
Police have appealed for information after a Shrewsbury householder was punched in the face by a burglar he disturbed trying to steal alcohol from his property shortly before 6pm yesterday in White Hart.
The victim spotted the offender leaving his outhouse, carrying boxes of lager, and challenged him. The offender dropped the lager and lashed out at the victim as he ran away, punching him in the face before making off over the garden fence and out of sight towards the Reabrook.
Fortunately, the householder was not seriously injured and did not need hospital treatment. The boxes of lager have been seized for forensic examination.
The offender is described as white, in his 20s, about 5ft 11in in height and of slim to medium build. He was clean-shaven and wearing shorts, a T-shirt and a Burberry-style checked baseball cap.
Anyone who knows his identity or witnesses persons matching the description in the White Hart area that evening is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000.
Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where a reward is sometimes offered.
