Weston Park antiques valuation day raises £125 for Hope House
Around £125 was raised for Hope House children’s hospice by a team of experts from leading Shropshire fine art auction house Halls who held an antiques valuation day at Weston Park on Friday.

People living along the Shropshire-Staffordshire border brought a wide selection of paintings, jewellery, coins, ceramics, silver, watches, stamps and weapons to be valued by fine art director Jeremy Lamond, art specialist William Lacey and jewellery, coins and watches specialist Derek Ainsworth.
The charity event was held in the Granary Art Gallery at Weston Park, Weston-under-Lizard, near Shifnal, where an exhibition of Masterpieces from the Ford Collection was on display.
Items appraised at the event included a 21 bore game rifle by Dickson of Edinburgh, which was valued at up to £2,000 and is to be further researched by Mr Lamond. He also valued two Coalport vases decorated by Frederick Chivers (1881-1965) at up to £1,500 and two cast iron garden urn at up to £2,000.
Other interesting items valued were an 18 carat gold hunter pocket watch and Albert chain at up to £2,000, a pair of George IV silver candlesticks at up to £1,200, a 19th century French watch and a George III spade guinea at up to £800 each, a coin collection at up to £500 and an oil painting of a hunting scene at up to £200.
A charge of £1.50 was made for each item valued with all the money going to Hope House.
Mr Lamond said the team from Halls had seen a number of very interesting items and he was pleased with the amount raised for Hope House.
He encouraged anyone who has antiques to be valued, but was unable to attend the event, to contact Halls on Tel: 01743 284777.
Ken Arch, a Hope House ambassador, thanked the team from Halls for their expertise, Weston Park for hosting the event and local people for turning up with items to be valued.
