Telford & Wrekin council look for suggestions of ways to save money
Telford & Wrekin Council is inviting people to come forward with their ideas for new ways to deliver services differently to help the Council save money or increase income.

Suggestion Box, is an online tool that allows people to submit ideas on how the Council can continue to develop its 700 services differently and more efficiently.
You can access Suggestion Box at www.telford.gov.uk/suggestionbox
All ideas will be published on the Council’s website. They will be considered and could be taken up as part of the Council’s annual budget setting process.
The scheme is another indication of Telford & Wrekin’s move to a Co-Operative Council, working closer with residents, staff, partners and other organisations to deliver sustainable services for Telford and Wrekin with all stakeholders in the borough.
The Council currently faces unprecedented cuts in existing government grants totalling around £25m to 2014. Next year alone, due to cuts in grants and cost pressures such as inflation the Council must find £20 million.
Cllr Bill McClements, Cabinet Member for Resources and Service Delivery said: “As the people who pay for and use our services, our residents are well placed to suggest ways for doing things differently or more efficiently.
“At a time when we face such severe cuts, it is more vital than ever that we listen to the views of local people and ensure there is a simple way for them to bring forward their ideas”.
Cllr Shaun Davies, Cabinet Member for Co-operative Council & Partnerships said: “This is another indication of how we are bringing our vision of a co-operative council, which listens to and involves the community in all aspects of its decision making, to life. Whatever the suggestion, we will consider it”.
The new initiative forms part of its wider Your Views Matter campaign which will seek residents’ views on a wide range of council policies and services.
