New child e-safety bulletin service for parents launches in Shropshire
West Mercia Police has today launched a new child e-safety bulletin service for parents in Shropshire, making it easy to stay up-to-date with the latest online dangers and threats

With the increasing use of the internet by our children, criminals are constantly finding new ways to expose them to real danger.
Working with the Local Authority, the campaign will be communicated through schools and parents / carers are being asked to visit www.westmerciabulletin.org.uk to sign up. Sign up only takes a minute and it's totally free. On sign up, parents can download a handy free child e-safety guide which contains useful advice such as the SMART rules and the 5P’s for parents, to print and share.
Detective Superintendent Martin Lakeman – West Mercia Police - who is leading the campaign said:
“The internet is a fantastic place but just like any fantastic place it has risks. We are doing all we can to educate everyone in our local communities about the potential dangers that face children online and the simple steps that will keep them safe from harm. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and we urge all parents and carers to sign up. Our goal is to achieve at least 7,000 parent subscribers over the next four weeks and we are deliberately timing this campaign to coincide with the start of the school summer holidays when children will be away from school and looking for things to do.”
He added – “Together, we can make West Mercia the safest region for child internet safety in the UK.”
