Telford & Wrekin Council is holding a major public exhibition with pupils, parents and local residents on the proposed rebuild of Ercall Wood Technology College.

Telford & Wrekin Council to hold major Ercall Wood exhibition

The event will take place at the college on Wednesday 13 July and will give everyone in the area a chance to learn about the redevelopment proposals for the site.

Plans include a new build school on land next to the current building as well as a new housing development.

Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Telford & Wrekin Council is committed to raising the attainment of school pupils through improving the quality of school buildings across the borough and these are exciting proposals for Ercall Wood Technology College.

“The exhibition will provide information while offering an opportunity for people to give us their views on the scheme.

“The current Ercall Wood Technology College was originally built in the 1940s and there has since been a series of extensions, resulting in a fairly poor layout.

“The new scheme, which is subject to planning consent, will not only provide a completely new school but also community use of sports pitches, public open spaces and construction of new homes.

“I would urge everyone who has an interest or thinks they might be affected to attend the exhibition.”

Ercall Wood head teacher Chay Davis said: “The current building has changed very little down the years but education has changed a lot and this represents a fantastic opportunity to deliver education in an environment that can cater for modern demands.”

The exhibition on July 13 takes place between 10am and 4pm for pupils and parents and between 4-8pm for local residents and other interested parties.
