Members of the public are being urged to be on the lookout for some distinctive pieces of jewellery after £20,000 worth was stolen in a burglary from a home in Telford.

Thieves steal thousands of pounds worth of jewellery in Telford burglary

The break-in happened at a home in Coalport Road in Madeley some time between 2.45pm and 6.30pm on Thursday.

Thieves broke into the property by forcing a window. A thorough search was carried out and a haul of jewellery was stolen.

A Range Rover was also stolen off the drive of the home.

The stolen jewellery is extremely distinctive and Police are hoping that somebody will have information in connection to its whereabouts.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “Burglars carried out a thorough search of the home and stole around £20,000 worth of distinctive jewellery. Some of the items had been in the victim’s family for around 100 years and other pieces had been collected from memorable holidays from different parts of the world.

“The victim is completely devastated.

“The keys to a silver Range Rover registration M111 WAR were also stolen and the vehicle was subsequently taken.

“Police are investigating the matter and want to hear from anyone who may have been offered any of the jewellery for sale.

It is highly likely that whoever stole it will try and sell the property on.

“We also want to hear from anyone who has any knowledge in relation to the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle, which remains outstanding.

“A number of enquiries are being carried out by Police but we would ask members of the public to help us by coming forward with information.”

Items of jewellery stolen include a Victorian gold bangle with one central diamond and eight pearls alongside. This bracelet had been handed down three generations and was worn by female members of the family on their wedding day.

“Also stolen was a snake bracelet with ruby eyes, a Chopard ring, a diamond tennis bracelet with 64 diamonds, an 18 carat gold three cluster diamond ring, a Gucci bracelet watch, a Gucci ring, a 14 carat gold tanzanite and diamond and black opal ring, a gold charm bracelet with around 20 charms including an 18 carat gold wedding ring, a teddy bear, a key Swiss cottage, cherries, a moon with an owl on and an eternity ring. A pair of grape earrings and blue/turquoise drop earrings was also stolen.

Anyone with information should contact Telford Police on 0300 333 3000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
