Cyclist suffers serious head injuries following incident in Shrewsbury
A cyclist suffered serious head injuries last night after coming off his bike on a busy Shrewsbury street.

The man, who is in his 60s, remains in intensive care in hospital this morning following the incident, which happened outside the bus depot in Ditherington Road shortly after 7pm.
At this stage, police believe the cyclist had been travelling towards the town centre and may have come off his bike after swerving to avoid a green Ford Fiesta car, which is understood to have been stationary in the road ahead.
No collision is believed to have occurred between the car and pedal cycle at this time.
Police Constable Lee Barton, of Shropshire’s Force Operations Support Team, appealed for anyone who saw what happened to contact police on 0300 333 3000.
“It was still daylight at the time and the area is likely to have been relatively busy, so anyone who witnessed the incident but has not yet spoken to police is asked to please get in touch,” he said.
“I am also keen to hear from anyone who might have witnessed the manner of cycling by the man, who was riding a white and blue pedal bike, or the driving of the green Ford immediately prior to the incident.
“The cyclist suffered serious head injuries and was initially taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, before being transferred to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, where he remains in Intensive Care.”
The road was closed until about 9.30pm while police collision investigators worked at the scene.
