Paraglider injured in south Shropshire after colliding with hillside
A man paragliding in south Shropshire was this morning airlifted to hospital after falling approximately 20ft onto the side of a hill. The 44-year old man crashed into Clee Hill, near to Dhustone Close, at around 11.40am.

Following the collision the man dialled 999 for help, providing the emergency operations centre with an accurate grid reference to enable
ambulance crews to locate him on the hillside.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "The air ambulance was first on scene and, once spotting the paraglider from the air, the pilot briefly landed as near to the man as possible to enable the paramedic and doctor to get out and make their way to him before relocating to the top of the hill.
”The man suffered a dislocated fractured shoulder and a back injury. He was given pain relief before being immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board.”
The man was carried around 200 feet up the hill with help from the land ambulance crews, fire and police to the awaiting helicopter before being airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further assessment and treatment.
His condition was said to be stable.
