With a diverse variety of creative workshops on offer at the Hive Music and Media Centre in Shrewsbury this summer, there is an activity to suit everyone!

Summer activities aplenty at The Hive this August

On August 9 and 10, there is going to be a two day Summer-sound workshop at the Centre aimed at ages 8-13. Young people have the opportunity to write their own songs and compose original music tracks, inspired by favourite musicians and artists. The exciting two day workshop will cost £35 for both days.

This will be followed by a garden crafts workshop on August 16 for ages 8-13, where participants can design interesting outdoor decorations and make stylish items for the garden. The workshop will take place between 10am and 3pm and costs £17.50.

Habib Malik-Mansell, Marketing Assistant at the Hive said “There will be a storytelling and comic book illustration workshop on August 17, when young people can experiment with illustration styles and explore magical lands. Another highlight is an Eco-fashion workshop on August 30, where young people have the chance to make stunning home and fashion accessories with local fashion designer Jo Bloodworth”.

A woodland craft and music-making workshop will show participants how to make musical instruments from recycled materials, aiming to inspire with birdsong and natural sounds to compose an original soundscape. Taking place on August 31, the workshop is for ages 8-13.

Full information on the Hive’s summer activities for young people can be found by visiting www.hiveonline.org.uk/summer-holidays Places can be booked by calling the centre on 01743 234970 or visiting in person on 5 Belmont, Shrewsbury, SY1 1TE.
