Thieves attempt to raid Tern Hill cash point
Police are today investigating after an attempt was made to break into a cash point at the Total filling station in Tern Hill, near Market Drayton overnight.
At least three men wearing gloves and ski masks are thought to have tried to force open the ATM machine just before 3am today but fled empty handed.
They drove off in a black Subaru car believed to be stolen.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We are anxious to hear from anyone with information which might help the investigation into this incident.
"The offenders might well have been at the garage for some time prior to attempting to break into the cash point. We are asking people to call Market Drayton police station on 0300 333 3000 if they spotted anything suspicious. Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111."
It's believed the Subaru left Tern Hill travelling at high speed along the A41 towards Newport. A large spoiler is thought to be fitted to its rear.
West Mercia is also liaising with Staffordshire and West Midlands Police over the incident.
