TJ Hughes in Shrewsbury is set to close next week after administrators failed to find a buyer for the retailer which went into administration in June.

TJ Hughes Shrewsbury to close next week

The store located in Shrewsbury’s Pride Hill Shopping Centre will cease trading on Wednesday August 10th.

Tom Jack, Joint Administrator at Ernst & Young, said: “It is regrettable that we have had to schedule these stores closures and we are extremely grateful to the employees and management at all the group’s stores, at the head office and at warehouses for their loyalty and support during what has been a very difficult and uncertain time.”

Administrators say all employees in Shrewsbury will be offered support and advice throughout the redundancy process.

In total the failed department store group will close 22 stores by the end of next week resulting in the loss of 1,061 jobs.
