The Wrekin Housing Trust is working with its partners Bellway, The Homes & Communities Agency and Telford & Wrekin Council to provide modern, quality housing in the Woodside area of Telford.

New homes for Woodside

The first tenants have now moved into the Trust’s new homes at Park Lane in Woodside. Mr & Mrs Breeze, who previously lived at Wildwood recently moved into a two-bedroom bungalow on the brand new site being developed by Bellway. Mrs Breeze said: “We’re chuffed to bits with our new home, and have really enjoyed settling in. These new houses have really improved this part of Woodside and I think it’s great that the Trust and others are working to provide quality affordable houses for people like us.”

The Park Lane site will provide almost 200 homes in total, including properties for sale, rent and shared equity. The Trust will provide 14 homes for rent, eight of which have now been handed to tenants, with six more to come next year.

Andrea Martin, Asset Renewal Manager for The Wrekin Housing Trust said: “The Trust is working hard to provide high quality sustainable housing that enhances and improves the community, not just in Telford but across all areas of Shropshire too. We hope the new tenants at Park Lane will really feel the benefits of these fantastic homes, and we wish them all the best.”

In addition to these new homes at Park Lane, the Trust is awaiting the outcome of a planning application to build the Woodside Centre comprising of 13 apartments and eight houses, as well as three shops which will include a small supermarket and a hairdressing salon.

Plans are also in place to redevelop areas of Wildwood, also in Woodside, as part of the ongoing regeneration of the area.

The government’s Homes & Communities Agency has worked closely with The Trust and Telford and Wrekin Council to invest over £17m to support the delivery of new homes at Woodside, including those at Park Lane.

The Wrekin Housing Trust also provided eight new homes for rent at Lawley Farm in July, consisting of one, two and three bedroom houses.
