Security warning issued by police following Shrewsbury house burglary
Police today urged people to make sure their doors and windows are secure following a Shrewsbury burglary where entry was gained through an insecure door.
A thief sneaked into the home at The Parks, Sundorne, through the insecure back door while the occupants were asleep between 3am and 9am yesterday.
Among the items stolen were 18 dvds worth £280 - seven Harry Potter dvds, three Lord of the Rings and eight featuring James Bond.
Also taken were a Nintendo DS game console worth £120, a black leather purse containing bank cards and a blue and white mountain bike valued at £100 stolen from the garden.
Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone offered dvds in suspicious circumstances to contact Shrewsbury police station on 0300 333 3000, or to call the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111.
They have also reminded people to check that doors and windows are securely maintained, especially at night.
