Over 1,637 people have been treated by on-site medical staff at V Festival at Weston Park during the weekend.

Medical Staff at V Festival treated over 1,600 people across the weekend

Since the gates opened, on-site ambulance crews have been called out 271 times and a total of 40 people have been taken to hospital.
They include a woman in her thirties who had suffered burns from a gas stove and a man in his thirties having suffered a suspected heart attack.

The medical cover for the festival has been provided by West Midlands Ambulance Service, Venture Event Medical Management and St. John Ambulance.

The organisations’ staff and volunteers, of which there are more than 200, are operating a medical centre on site, along with a command and control centre which is co-ordinating ambulances and other medical staff who are stationed within the main arena and in the campsite areas.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “This year, many of the patients were treated for medical issues and many already had pre-existing medical conditions.

“People can fall ill anywhere. At Weston Park, there is a team of more than 200 staff and volunteers on hand to look after them. They have worked very hard. Thank you to Venture Event Medical Management and St. John Ambulance for ensuring a safe festival for all those attending.

“The staff and volunteers will continue to remain on site all day today, until the last of the campers have left.”

Organisers have hailed this year's event a huge success with  around  85,000 people descending on Weston Park for the 12th year of the Festival. Festival goers enjoyed music from Eminem, Arctic Monkeys, Plan B, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, The Script, Primal Scream, Razorlight, Jessie J, Goulding, Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal across the four stages.
