Police officers are appealing for information following a burglary in Hadley after a large quantity of jewellery was stolen.

House ransacked in Telford after break-in

The incident occurred at a house on Far Vallens sometime between 12.05am on Friday 5 August and 11am on Saturday 20 August.

Sometime during the two week period in question it appears that thieves broke into the property by forcing open a window at the front of the house. The occupants of the property were away on holiday when this break-in occurred and it was a neighbour who noticed the open window on Saturday morning.

Once the thieves had entered the property it appears they carried out a thorough search of all the rooms inside before stealing a significant number of items and making their escape.

A police spokesman said:

"Among the items stolen were a Packard Bell laptop computer, a Panasonic SD multi AV device, a portable DVD player and a pair of binoculars.

"However, the most significant items stolen were a huge amount of jewellery, much of which had great sentimental value to the owners. Most of the stolen jewellery was removed from boxes by the thieves before they stole it.

"Amongst the jewellery stolen were a diamond and sapphire double snake ring, a gold onyx signet ring, a Help for Heroes bracelet, five watches and four pairs of gold cufflinks. In total it appears that more than £2500 of jewellery was stolen by the thieves.

"Police are keen to hear from anyone who believes they may know who was responsible for this break-in or anyone who has been offered the chance to buy jewellery in unusual circumstances recently.

"Anyone with information about this burglary - and particularly anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious or unusual in this part of Hadley over the past two weeks - is asked to call police in Telford on 0300 333 3000.

Crimestoppers can also be called anonymouslyon 0800 555 111."
