Thousands of pounds of stock stolen from Telford Card Shop

Police in Telford are investigating following a burglary at a Wellington Card Shop.

The incident occurred at a card shop on New Street, Wellington sometime between 5.30pm on Saturday 20 August and 8am on Monday 22 August.

Thieves broke into the shop by using a drill of some sort to cut a hole in a wall at the rear of the building some time during the time period in question. Once inside the building it appears the drill was used for a second time so the thieves could access a stock room within the premises.

A police spokesman said: "The thieves carried out a thorough, untidy search of the entire shop once they were inside.

"They then stole several thousand pounds worth of stock from the premises before making off with it. The items stolen in this break-in include cards, cuddly toys, photo frames, mugs, gift sets and also a large amount of ‘new baby' keepsakes.

"Investigating officers are convinced that a vehicle of some sort - possibly a van - must have been used by the thieves to transport the stolen goods away from the shop. Therefore they are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a vehicle parked up close to the shop between 6pm on Saturday night and 8am on Monday morning.

"Anyone with information about this burglary - and particularly anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious or unusual in this part of Wellington over the weekend - is asked to call police in Telford on 0300 333 3000.

"Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously 0800 555 111."
