Stolen number plates used in street robbery
Police today urged members of the public to come forward if they spotted number plates being removed from a car at the Harlescott Park and Ride in Shrewsbury.

The front and rear plates were stolen from a grey Vauxhall Astra left on the Battlefield Road car park between 10.30am and 2pm on Tuesday.
West Mercia Police have revealed the stolen plates were used on a car involved in a street robbery incident in the north of England yesterday morning.
Detective Inspector Sarah Wagstaff, said today: "For this reason, it is particularly important if anyone using the park at ride facility at Harlescott between these times on Tuesday, spotted anyone acting suspiciously near a grey Vauxhall Astra.
"The plates have actually been unscrewed so whoever was responsible, must have been tampering with the vehicle for at least several minutes. I appeal to anyone who thinks they may have seen something related to this theft, to contact Shrewsbury CID on 0300 333 3000."
She said the registration number was circulated as stolen plates on the police national computer and that they were used on a car involved in a robbery in the north of England at around 11.40am yesterday.
The owner of the Astra had travelled from his home in Cheshire to Shrewsbury, leaving his car on the Harlescott Park and Ride. He travelled home without making a further stop and only then noticed the number plates were missing. He reported the theft to his local police who contacted West Mercia Police.
