An inquest has been opened into the death of a motorcyclist killed in a road collision near Bridgnorth a week ago.

Inquest Opened On Motorcyclist Killed Near Bridgnorth

David John Deakin, aged 61, of Audley Drive, Kidderminster died when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car on the A442 Bridgnorth to Kidderminster road at Quatt.

The collision happened at around 2.20pm last Friday at the junction with the Hampton Loade turning.

Mr Deakin was pronounced dead at the scene.  An inquest was opened in Ludlow yesterday by the coroner for south Shropshire Mr Anthony Sibcy.  After hearing evidence of identification, it was adjourned to a future date.

Police are seeking witnesses to the actual collision or the circumstances leading up to it.

Police Constable Paul Bosley, the investigating officer, said: "It is important that anyone who saw the collision makes contact with Shrewsbury police station on 0300 333 3000.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who saw either the red Astra or the white motorbike, which was a Honda CBR, prior to the collision.  The bike was travelling from the general direction of Kidderminster towards Quatt and the Astra was joining the main A442 from the Hampton Loade junction."

He added: "A full investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances.  I urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant they may feel it is, to come forward."

The road was closed for several hours following the incident while the emergency services worked at the scene.

Police have renewed the appeal for witnesses to contact Bridgnorth police station on 0300 333 3000.
