Two rescued following fire in Shrewsbury town centre

A 15-year-old boy and a man aged 30 were rescued from property by fire service personnel and treated at scene by paramedics.

The fire broke out at The Sandwich Seller in Wyle cop around 10pm.

It is believed the fire was started by a chip pan range - the takeaway had recently been open in the evenings serving food till late.

Wyle Cop was closed for a short time while two crews attended to the fire.

Firefighters from Shrewsbury used breathing apparatus, two main jets, two hose reel jets and dry powder to put out the blaze.
