Police are investigating a burglary at the Wem home of a woman in 80s last night between 9.05pm-9.40pm.

Two force their way into elderly woman's home in Wem

Two male offenders forced their way into the bungalow in Trentham Road, Wem, while the householder was asleep in the living room. They searched drawers in the bedroom and when the woman woke up she saw one of the men in her living room crouched down searching through a side cupboard.

The woman asked him what he was doing there and he told her he was looking for a cat. She then saw the second man run from the direction of the bedrooms, through the living room and out of the front door. The woman told the offender to get out of her house and he left via the front door.

The male suspects are described as both white, 6'0"-6'2" tall, both slim build. One had mousy brown short cut hair. The other man is described as clean shaven, around 30 yrs old and was wearing a navy coloured button up overall.

The victim was badly shaken by the incident. Scenes of crime officers will be at the address today to ascertain if anything has been stolen from the bungalow.

Anyone who thinks they saw the men or has other information which could help the police inquiry is urged to contact the burglary team at Shrewsbury on 0300 333 3000.
