Telford police arrest teenager following reports of suspicious activity

Police received a call from a member of the public in Telford at around 9.45pm last night reporting that a vehicle had been seen in the Muxton area allegedly acting suspiciously.

Police officers attended the area and stopped a vehicle and spoke to a 17 year-old male who was then arrested on suspicion of going equipped. A number of items were seized from the vehicle.

The male is currently being questioned by detectives.

Today police praised the member of the public for their quick thinking and contacting police.

Detective Inspector Pete Brophy said: "The general public can play a major role in helping police prevent and detect crime.

"We would urge people to remain alert and vigilant in protecting their property and communities and would ask them to report to us immediately any suspicious activity they see.

"The more information we receive from the public, the greater our chances in further reducing crime and disorder."

Anyone witnessing suspicious activity is urged to contact Telford Police on 0300 333 3000.
