Telford & Wrekin council remind residents of revised budget feedback deadline
Residents in Telford and Wrekin have just under two weeks left to give their views and ideas about the borough and also feedback on proposed changes to this year’s budget.

The council’s Community Engagement team is continuing to hold road shows at different locations in the borough to ensure as many people as possible are able to have an input.
The council's savings proposals include not building a new Civic Offices as proposed by the previous administration, revising the Town Centre redevelopment scheme and revised schemes for the completion of regeneration in Oakengates and Newport.
The council also plans to invest more in roads and pavements and set up a Small Business Loans Fund. It has also reinstated free swimming for the under 16s.
To help the Council plan for the future of the borough they are also seeking people’s views on what they think about Telford and Wrekin as a place to live, work and visit.
The closing date for responses to these consultations is Friday September 30 with the Community Engagement team scheduled to be at the following locations (weather permitting) before that date:
- Friday September 23: Newport Indoor Market, 9.30am-12.30pm.
- Saturday September 24: World Heritage Festival, Ironbridge; 12-4pm.
- Tuesday September 27: The Market Square, Wellington, 11am-1pm.
Councillor Bill McClements, cabinet member for Resources and Service Delivery, said: “I encourage everyone to go to one of the sessions to have their say or to complete our online budget survey.
“The finalised budget will be going to full council for approval in November and so this is the last chance for everyone to influence how their money is spent.”
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Co-operative Council and Partnerships, said: “Proper consultation with our residents is at the heart of everything our drive to become a Co-operative Council stands for.
“We made a commitment to draw up an emergency budget within 100 days of coming into power and we’ve done that and we’ve spent the last couple of months talking to residents about the changes we’ve made.
“This is a final drive to ensure we’ve got as much feedback as possible from people and I hope people will attend one of the sessions to give their views.”
