Television viewers in Shropshire using Freeview, BT Vision or Top-Up TV will today be required to retune their digital TV box in the final stage of digital switchover.

Freeview retune required as The Wrekin increases transmission power

The retune is required following the completion of digital switchover for viewers in other parts of the West Midlands.

Today’s retune will see channels broadcasting from The Wrekin moving frequencies along with a power increase on some channels. Until now some channels including ITV3, SKY News and Film 4 were broadcasting on low power to avoid interfering with other West Midlands transmitters.

Earlier this month it was revealed that seven new frequencies could be providing up to 35 new Freeview HD channels within a few years on a number of UK transmitters including The Wrekin which covers a large part of Shropshire.
