Metal thieves force Shropshire school to close for the day
A Shropshire school was forced to close today after thieves attempting to steel metal made the roof unsafe.

Over the weekend, thieves attempted to remove metal from the roof of school buildings at the Burton Borough School in Newport.
Thieves left the roof in a dangerous state following the copper theft during late Friday or the early hours of Saturday which was made worse by high winds.
Burton Borough School in Newport will be open as usual tomorrow. The School's year six open evening will also take place between 6.30-8pm.
Last month it was revealed that more than £500,000 of metal has been stolen from Shropshire properties in the past 12 months.
West Mercia Police is currently operating an ongoing campaign in Shropshire called Operation Livewire to tackle the theft of metals across the county.
Police are carrying out stop checks on vehicles carrying scrap metal and scrap dealers are also being subjected to spot checks to ensure that they are operating legally and not receiving stolen goods.
