Telford Police have today issued CCTV images of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with a series of thefts from a town centre shop.

Police release Telford CCTV images following purse thefts

Around 50 purses have been stolen from display stands in River Island in New Row, Telford Town Centre during the last few weeks.

It has been identified that three incidents have occurred at the store in which the purses have been stolen.

The first took place between 1.15pm and 1.45pm on Wednesday 17 August, the second incident took place between 1.30pm and 2pm on Thursday 1 September and the third took place between 1.20pm and 1.35pm on Monday 12 September.

The value of the purses stolen is almost £1,000.

Police are investigating the matter and have today released CCTV images of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with the incidents.

A Police spokeswoman said: "It appears than an individual or individuals have been going into the store and taking a number of purses at a time from the display stand and concealing them without offering payment. Almost £1,000 worth of purses have been stolen to date.

"We are eager to identify the woman pictured on the CCTV.CCTV Image Of Woman Police Are Trying To TraceCCTV Image Of Woman Police Are Seeking To Trace

"We believe this individual could have information that could help us with our enquiries and would urge that individual, or anyone who recognises this person, to come forward."

Anyone with information should contact Police Constable Sharon Major from Telford's Retail Crime Team on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively information can be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
