Regenerating Brookside is a priority for Telford & Wrekin Council
Regenerating Brookside area is to be one Telford & Wrekin Council’s top priorities over the coming months. The commitment came at the first meeting of the Brookside Co-Operative Board.

This group involving the Council, residents and partners has come together to push forward co-operative ways of working in Brookside, which is piloting this approach in the borough.
The partners agreed a series of steps that they will take between now and the end of the year to improve the area and help tackle a number of issues.
The Board includes Stirchley and Brookside Parish Council, the Wrekin Housing Trust, Police and Telford & Wrekin Council and an invitation has been extended to the local residents’ organisation, Brookside Improvement Group (BIG), to join the Board.
Among the initiatives is the appointment of Street Champions, via the Brookside Improvement Group who will proactively work with all relevant service providers to help make Brookside a better place to live.
There is also the Keep Britain Tidy campaign that is looking to work with the community to find sustainable solutions that will make the area cleaner, safer and greener.
There are also plans to increase the range and types of activities available at the local community centre.
Cllr Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Environment, Co-operative Council and Partnerships, said the Council was fully committed to improving the quality of life for people on Brookside and the pioneering co-operative approach would help this to happen more quickly.
“We will fail or succeed on the progress we make in Brookside, that for too many years has been let down.
“This doesn’t mean just new street signs or buildings, but transforming the prospects of people in the ward and working together to improve residents’ experiences of life on Brookside.
“We want to move this forward with some tangible improvements before the end of the year while we look at further ways to bring forward Brookside’s regeneration," said Cllr Davies.
