Drug issues tackled in Wem
Police in Wem today called on local people to help with efforts to curb illegal drug activity in the area. The plea follows recent successes against people believed to be involved with drugs.

They include three search warrants at addresses in the town under the Misuse of Drugs Act, the latest being at a home in The Grove yesterday.
Warrants have also been carried out at houses in Aston Street and Trentham Road during recent weeks and police say similar operations will be mounted in the future whenever reliable information is received.
Wem Local Policing Officer, PC Dave Carpenter, said today: "I'd like to thank residents for their assistance in these successes. They have all come about because of local people complaining about anti-social behaviour associated with drug activity."
He said small teams of police officers, including a dog handler, had carried out the three search warrants. Forced entry was made at two of the addresses.
A 19-year-old man received a police caution following yesterday's warrant in The Grove where a small amount of cannabis bush was seized.
At the Trentham Road address, a man was arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin, a Class A controlled drug. He was given police bail pending further inquiries.
There were no arrests and no drugs found at the home in Aston Street.
PC Carpenter said: "Drugs and their associated anti-social problems are a blight on local neighbourhoods.
"I appreciate people may be reluctant to report their concerns but by working together we are making a real difference. We are determined to catch and deal with offenders in a robust manner and we need the support of the public to do this.
"Local people can contact the police in confidence by seeing me at Wem police station, calling 0300 333 3000, or alternatively, contacting the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111."
He added that the police were tackling drugs issues in partnership with other agencies including Shropshire Council and housing associations.
