Telford boy receives hospital treatment after being bitten by dog
A 12-year-old boy has been treated in hospital after he was bitten by a dog in Telford.
The boy was walking in the park off Gibbons Road in Trench near to The Sutherland School when the incident occurred at around 4.30pm yesterday.
As the boy walked the family dog, a tan coloured Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which was off its lead, approached and started to attack the boy's dog.
The boy tried to separate the two but in the process the Staffordshire Bull Terrier bit his hand.
He went home and told his mother, who reported it to police.
Police are investigating the incident and are eager to trace the dog owner.
A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was off its lead but was with an unknown person. Police are eager to trace this individual and would urge him or her to come forward. We would also ask anyone who knows who the owner might be to contact us with any information.
"There were a lot of people in the area at the time so we are hoping that potential witnesses will come forward."
The spokeswoman added: "The boy had cuts to his finger and had to be treated at the Princess Royal Hospital.
"Police are concerned and are eager to identify the dog's owner so if you have any information at all please come forward."
Anyone with information should contact Police Constable Iain McIntosh on 0300 333 3000.
