Telford man admits benefit fraud
A 33 year old Telford man has admitted two charges of making a false statement in order to obtain Housing Benefit when he appeared in court yesterday.
Sean Hind, of Avon Close, Little Dawley, dishonestly claimed an amount totalling £6,784.05 over a period of nearly three years in a case brought by Telford & Wrekin Council.
Telford Magistrates heard that the offence related to Mr Hind creating a false tenancy in order for him to receive housing benefit.
The offences took place between 27 August 2007 and 4 July 2010.
In addition to paying back the overpaid benefit, Mr Hind was sentenced to 240 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay costs of £500.
