Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted as he took his dog for a walk in Telford.

Man assaulted whilst walking dog in Telford

The 42-year-old man was walking along Limekiln Lane in Arleston when he was approached by an unknown man and woman at around 11pm last night.

The pair asked if they could stroke the man's dog, as they walked past the nearby school. The dog owner agreed and the pair stroked the animal.

But the owner became concerned as the man pulled at the dog's hair. He asked him to stop stroking his pet.

The man then punched the dog owner to the face several times and both he and the female who was with him made off, possibly in a taxi.

The dog owner summoned help from a neighbour and police were called.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "The man suffered a bloodied nose as a result of the assault. He summoned help by knocking on a door within the neighbourhood he was walking. He was checked over by paramedics but did not require treatment.

"Police are investigating the matter and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward."

The suspect is described as aged in his 20's, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build with short shaven blond hair. He was wearing a black top, blue jeans and a baseball cap. He had a black and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier with him.

The female he was with is described as aged in her 20's, white and around 5ft 8ins tall. She had shoulder length blond hair and is described as being of large build. She was wearing black leggings and a black fleece.

Anyone who saw the suspects before or after the incident, or who witnessed the assault is asked to contact Telford Police on 0300 333 3000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
