Three homes in Shrewsbury were broken into and searched overnight as the residents slept.

Three Shrewsbury homes burgled as residents sleep

Property worth several thousand pounds was stolen from two houses in Bishop Street and another home in nearby Whitehall Street.

The three burglaries are being linked and police have appealed for information. They want to hear from anyone who spotted anything suspicious in the area between 11pm last night and 7.30am today.

Entry was gained by forcing a window at all the addresses and downstairs rooms searched while the occupants were asleep. The breakins were discovered when they awoke and came downstairs.

Among the items stolen were an Omega Seamaster watch worth £1,000, a Sony Cybershot camera, Apple iPod, A Dell lap top valued at £1,000, bank cards, driving licence and the contents of a wallet.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Edwards said: "Do not hesitate to contact Shrewsbury police station by calling 101 if you saw anything which might be connected or have any other information which might assist our enquiries."

Police are also investigating burglaries at a home in Millers Green, Castlefields and at Mad Jack's Restaurant in St Mary's Street.

Entry was gained at the house by forcing a window between 7.45am and 8.30pm yesterday and a full search made of the premises. Items stolen included a Panasonic digital camera, two Nokia mobile phones, a Motorola razor, a 14-inch Goodman's television, Wii games console and games, a diamond ring, two gold rings and bottle of spirits.

Mad Jack's was entered during the early morning yesterday and cash stolen from an office after an internal door was forced.

Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111.
