Woman suffers eye injury during assault in Telford pub

The victim, aged 26, was out with friends at The Three Furnaces Inn in Madeley when the incident occurred at around 11pm on Friday.

The victim became involved in a verbal altercation with another individual so left the pub.

She later returned and was assaulted by being punched to the face.

The victim lost her balance and fell backwards onto a bench. She then received a number of other punches and kicks to her face and body.

Staff became involved and broke up the incident. An ambulance was called.

The victim was taken to hospital with an eye injury and swelling and bruises to her face and body.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "We are eager to speak to anyone who was in the pub at the time and who may have information that could help us with our enquiries.

"Somebody must have seen something and we would urge those individuals to come forward and speak to us."

Anyone with information should contact Telford Police on the new non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
