North Shropshire students raise money for MacMillan Nurses
As part of their course, five entry level learners from the Oswestry Campus of Walford and North Shropshire College have organised a Christmas Coffee morning in aid of MacMillan Nurses.

Lecturer Maxine Bellingham says “The whole course consists of lots of different units designed to teach life skills so as to enable the students to cope better when out and about in the community.” Each unit of the course addresses different skills such as Cookery, Arts and Crafts, IT, Organisation and Budgeting, Sustainability and Personal Development.
One of their units, Produce a Product, draws together the skills from all other areas of their course. As part of this they had to hold a group discussion regarding what they’d like to make and what they’d like to do with their products once they were made. They came up with many different and interesting ideas and showed such enthusiasm that, it was decided they would hold an end of year coffee morning and sale.
The sale took place on the morning of Tuesday 6th of December and was well supported by both students and staff within the Oswestry Campus. The group raised a total of £68.10 and this will now be sent to MacMillan Nurses.
